Over The Counter Hearing Devices… A Cheaper Alternative to Hearing Aids?

A recent study comparing this new class of hearing devices with traditional hearing aids noted “the devices performed almost as well and are much cheaper”.  Why is this important news for sufferers of hearing loss?  An article on WebMD explains that “hearing aids can cost thousands of dollars, and Medicare doesn’t cover them” making them out of reach for many people.

Another interesting comment from the WebMD article is that these “OTC” devices are most helpful when purchased from an audiologist who can fine tune them to an individuals needs.  However, many audiologists are not selling them yet.  Indiana In-Home Hearing is proud to be one of the few offering these devices.  And in the month of July we are even running a special to introduce them to the public.
